In discussion on the Tesla with a friend, the topic of powerful small motors came up, as these electric ones and these rotary ‘Wankel’ ones.
The issue for the electric motors is availability of suitable battery technology, which is the focus of much development currently.
We from there went into discussion on small planes. My friend is looking for a plane classified as a microlight, and is looking at the Dynaero products.
The Eclipse 500 mentioned above is a larger (and much higher performance) plane, but for pottering around Europe the Dynaero’s look fabulous.
